It was another dominant display by the Coton U13s.

Having won the toss they took the field & City of Cambridge never really got going on a difficult track with low bounce. Wickets fell at regular intervals, shared amongst the Coton bowlers with Harry Dixon picking up a brace.

City of Cambridge ground out 98-7 off 20 overs. In response, Sam Romans & George Pullan opened for Coton & looked untroubled, despite the sticky wicket, playing the straight ball with respect & scoring well when the bowlers strayed. However, with 20 on the board there was a mix up with the calling & running, & George was run out to give City their first scalp.

This brought Axel to the crease & the tempo of the game changed markedly. Dropped early in his innings off a top edge, Axel didn’t need a second invitation. Striking the ball with extraordinary power all around the ground & retiring on 35 not out, thanks to a huge straight six, the game was all but over. Cameos from Monty & Sam Styring, joined by Mathis at the end of the innings, saw Coton over the line on 100-3 off just 14.1 overs. It was another match played in great spirit & well done to both teams for creating such an enjoyable game.
