Our first game of the season took place at home on 27 April. Last year the same team hammered 265 runs in their 40 overs, leaving little for our bowlers. This year, our bowlers stepped it up, with Akul Satish taking 3 wickets for 11 runs, and Syon, Prabh, Pratik, Yash and Ketul all taking valuable wickets. We also had a very encouraging debut perfomance with the ball from Dominic Speck - not the only 14 year old to be playing senior cricket, and showing a very promising turn of speed! At one stage we had limited them to 110 for 9 wickets but a final stand got them to 166 runs. In reply, Coton got to 89 runs with Pratik (38) and Jonathan Ede (17) putting in a fine defence.

Great Melton CC play 4 divisions above us - so a little like a National League team playing a Premier league side!
